Installation Steps

Click the download button on the download page to get the InterviewHacker installer (.dmg file).

Double-click the downloaded .dmg file to open the installer window.

Drag the InterviewHacker icon into the Applications folder on the right.

Find InterviewHacker in Applications and open it. On first launch, macOS will warn that the developer 'cannot be verified.' Click 'Done/Cancel'.

Then go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click 'Open Anyway' to run the app.

After the app launches, it will prompt for Accessibility permission, which is required because InterviewHacker's hotkeys need an elevated priority.

After signing in, try the hotkeys. If they don't respond, quit the app from settings and sign in again.

The first time you use the screenshot hotkey, the system will prompt for Screen Recording permission. Follow the prompt to grant it, then restart the app to use it normally.

To ensure InterviewHacker works properly, grant the required system permissions (see 'Required Permissions' below).

After granting permissions, use ⇧⌘S to capture a screenshot and ⇧⌘A to have AI analyze it.

Required Permissions

The app needs the following permissions to work. They are used solely for core functionality and do not collect any extra information.

Accessibility

Used to listen for global hotkeys (⇧⌘S screenshot, ⇧⌘A analyze). Without this, the app cannot respond to hotkeys pressed in other apps.

Screen Recording

Used to capture the screen and send it to the AI for analysis — the core capability behind real-time question recognition. Capture only happens when you trigger it, and the app's own window is automatically excluded.

How to Grant

Open System Settings and go to Privacy & Security.

Find InterviewHacker under Accessibility and toggle it on. If it's missing from the list, click '+' to add the app manually.

Find InterviewHacker under Screen Recording and toggle it on.

After granting Screen Recording, the system will ask you to quit and reopen the app. Click 'Quit & Reopen'.

After relaunch, the hotkeys for screenshot and analysis will work normally.

Below are typical usage scenarios. The core flow is always: ⇧⌘S screenshot → ⇧⌘A analyze.

HackerRank Online Interview

When answering in the HackerRank code editor or Q&A screen

1.Open your interview link and enter the HackerRank coding or Q&A screen.
2.After reading the question, press ⇧⌘S to capture the screen area containing the question.
3.Press ⇧⌘A; the AI auto-detects the question type (algorithm, SQL, or text) and returns the answer with code.
4.The answer panel appears below the top toolbar. Use ⌘E to collapse/expand and ⌘↑/⌘↓ to scroll.
5.Copy the code you need into the HackerRank editor, adjust as needed, and submit.

Tip：Read through the AI's reasoning before pasting code. For complex algorithm problems, capture multiple screenshots to add context.

LeetCode Practice / Remote Interview

LeetCode online assessment or Live Interview

1.Open the LeetCode problem page in your browser, or join the Live Interview link.
2.Once the problem loads, press ⇧⌘S, making sure the description and examples are in the capture.
3.Press ⇧⌘A to analyze; you'll get a solution with complexity analysis and full code.
4.Following the AI's approach, implement it in the LeetCode editor and run the test cases.
5.Use ⌘↑ / ⌘↓ to scroll long answers; press ⇧⌘H to hide the panel.

Tip：Include the examples and constraints in your screenshot so the AI handles edge cases better.

Video Conference Interview (Zoom / Teams / Meet / Tencent / Feishu)

When the interviewer shares a screen or uses an online IDE

1.Join the interview video call (the desktop client is recommended over the browser for more stable stealth).
2.When the interviewer shows a question via screen share, press ⇧⌘S to capture the current screen.
3.Press ⇧⌘A to analyze. The answer panel appears at the top of the screen and is invisible to the other party in screen share.
4.If asked to share your own screen to answer, enable click-through mode (⇧⌘T) so the panel doesn't block other windows.
5.Browse answers with ⌘↑/⌘↓ while answering; press ⌘E to quickly collapse the panel and avoid staring too long.

Tip：Stealth mode relies on native macOS window protection — it's invisible even if the other party records. Just avoid sharing your screen via 'share a single browser tab.'
